From The Heart: Healing people and planet with cups of Mayde Tea

Kate didn’t set out to create a tea company, but as with some of the best things in life, her pathway to Mayde Tea unfurled organically. “While immersed in my naturopathy and nutrition studies, I personally utilised various herbs to support digestion, enhance sleep, and alleviate anxiety. Initially ingesting these herbs in tincture form, I eventually delved into crafting these formulations into the gentler, yet equally effective, mediu m of organic herbal teas.” Finding positive results for herself, Kate started sharing her tea blends with family and friends. “I was so excited to share my creations with my friends and family, and luckily, they were received really well. Thus, somewhat un intentionally, Mayde Tea was born.”
Now used by over 400 cafes, restaurants, health studios, and beauty salons, and loved by loyal customers, Mayde Tea has grown from Kate’s initial offering for family and friends into a well - known brand. “When I founded the brand, we were one of the first organic tea brands – there wasn’t anything out there that was organic, naturopath founded, and with a sustainability focus."
“I hold a profound belief in the inherent ability of our bodies to self - heal, and plant medicine, with its myriad mechanisms, plays a pivotal role in restoring the body to optimal health. Sharing the magic of these herbal blends with my community is just so fulfilling.”

Kate shares that blending the teas is a thoughtful process that brings together the therapeutic benefits and harmonious synergy of each herb together. “It's essential for every ingredient to contribute to a synergistic effect, enhancing the overall impact. The entire experience is designed to be holistic...a sensory journey, appreciating the vibrant hues, captivating aromas, and comforting warmth.” And the colours of plant ingred ients can hold clues to their health benefits.
“The colour of plants is often tied to pigments with potential health benefits. For example, green plants are rich in chlorophyll and nutrients, while yellow, orange, and red plants contain carotenoids with antioxidant properties.”

As a mother of two small children, Kate finds teas as a gentle way to heal her family with plants. “Our Serenity tea has become a nightly ritual for our kids, diluted and served lukewarm, an important part of our bedtime routine. It also proved effective for conjunctivitis. And for tummy troubles we turn to our Digest tea.”
“During winter time we are constantly drinking the Restore blend to support our immune systems, and at the beginning of each season I drink lots of our Cleanse tea as a gentle seasonal cleanse.”
Inspired by the landscapes of her home in the northern rivers, Kate wants to connect people back to nature’s healing and to protecting this beautiful planet. “I envision Mayde Tea as a catalyst for positive change in the world of plant - based healing.” Through simple cups of tea, Kate is shifting how people approach health and wellbeing. “I aspire to see a greater awareness and appreciation for the benefits of herbal remedies, making them more accessible and integrated into people's lives.”
